Winery family since 1940

Our history begins in the hearth of Galicia with a small establishment dedicated to hospitality and wine sales. Since then, we have opted for hard work, for knowing the land and respecting its times, and for tying again and again until we get what we were looking for. Today, three generations later, more than 50 families every day to produce wines and liqueurs that preserve the legacy and the illusion of that Casa Penouzos that opened its doors in 1940.

1940

Maruja Otero and Manuel Méndez found Casa Penouzos, a small establishment dedicated to hospitality and wine sales.

1976

Creation of Vínicola de Chantada S.A. for the production and sale of bulk wines. 

1990

The third generation of the family creates ViniGalicia.

1997

Start of bottling of wines without D.O.

1998

Acquisition of Vía Romana winery in the D.O. Ribeira Sacra

2011

Acquisition of Terriña winery in the D.O. Valdeorras

2012

Incorporation of brands in the D.O. Ribeiro and D.O. Rías Baixas.

2013

We got the varietal certification.

2015

Incorporation of brands in the D.O. Monterrei.

2017

First Galician wine with a vegan certificate, Vía Romana.

2018

Start-up of ViniGalicia 2.0.

2019

We achieve IFS certification at the basic level

2020

Acquisition of Vía Atlántica winery in the D.O. Rías Baixas.

2021

We achieve IFS certification at the higher level.
